General dentistry
General dentistry includes everything it takes to keep you healthy. This covers routine examinations, preventative advice, routine Xray's and treatment needed when a problem does arise.

Routine Examinations
In your routine examination your dentist will check you over to make sure everything is going as it should, you can expect your dentist to check the health of your teeth, gums and all the soft tissues in the mouth.
Regular check-ups also include screening for oral cancers.
Hygienist treatment
Some people choose to have their teeth cleaned and polished to remove staining from food and drinks.

For others, the treatment is advised if they are having issues such as a build up of hard plaque, gingivitis or periodontal disease.

Dentures
If your dentures are old or ill fitting come in for a consultation and we can discuss your options, you might just need some small adjustments to feel more comfortable.
Root Canal Treatment
It's best to keep as many of your natural teeth as possible, root canal treatment can be a necessary treatment to save an infected, damaged or decayed tooth. The root canal system contains the dental pulp and extends from the crown of the tooth to the end of the root. Root canal works by removing the bacteria from the root canal system. Before having root canal treatment, you'll usually be given a local anaesthetic. This means the procedure should be painless and no more unpleasant than having a filling.

At castle dental the Root Canal Therapy will be carried out by your general dentist if it is routine, if it is complicated we will refer you to see Jonathan Farmer in practice, he has a special interest in endodontics. Jonathan completed his post graduate diploma in endodontology at Chester University in 2017. Treatment is carried out under magnification using loupes and a microscope.
Extractions
Sometimes it is not possible to save a tooth. At castle dental care we aim to make this experience as comfortable and pain free as possible. If you think you may need to have a tooth taken out please contact the practice so we can asses your condition and talk you through your options.
