COVID-19 UPDATE
The Covid 19 pandemic has affected dental practices greatly.
This is because we work close to our patients and every time we use a drill or a scaler it produces an
aerosol. This is potentially infective so we have to allow 1 hours fallow time which allows it to settle before
we can thoroughly clean the surgery. This reduces how many patients we can see per day and means
that we avoid aerosol producing procedures if we can.
As our patient’s safety is a number one priority we are operating a closed door system where we only have one patient on the premises at a time. This also gives extra time for the additional cleaning
necessary.
At the moment all appointments are made by phone and our team are working hard to make sure
everyone understands the present procedures. We'd love to get back to normal routine check ups as soon
as we can, but this is going to take time, and procedures that involve water spray like fillings or tooth
scaling are to be avoided as much as we can while the Covid Alert Level is high.
Current Procedures

If you do need an appointment you'll notice a few differences too. It goes something like this:

When making the appointment we will ask you a number of health questions to make sure there is low risk of you having Covid-19.

Please let us know ASAP via phone if you have any of the symptoms of: A new continuous cough or fever, loss of sense of smell or taste.

You’ll need to arrive at the practice on time. We can only have one patient in the practice at a time, so being on time is really important. Please wait outside until asked to come in.
It’s also important to come alone if you can, and not bring any more stuff than you need to (coats, bags, etc.)
When you come into the practice we will take your temperature and you’ll be asked to disinfect your hands using an alcohol based hand rub.
The receptionists will be behind a screen, and all the magazines and most of the chairs have been removed from the waiting area.
You’ll be taken straight through to surgery by a nurse in PPE, and the dentist will already have their mask and gloves on.
You will then leave the practice before any other patient enters.

If you have any particular concerns or questions, please let us know.
